Each year, to mark the close of the racing season, H.S.H. Prince Albert II pays tribute to the Yacht Club de Monaco’s sailors at the YCM Awards, featuring the UBS Trophy. These awards honour both the young athletes of the Sports Section and the Club’s Full Members—owners and skippers—who compete at the highest level of the sport.
The awards are presented in two categories: the YCM Youth Awards, which recognise the Sports Section’s young sailors competing in the Optimist, ILCA and Kite classes, and the YCM Awards, presented to the Full Members who have most distinguished themselves while representing the Yacht Club de Monaco throughout the racing season.

The YCM Awards recognize not a single achievement, but an entire season. The selection process combines racing results, members’ votes, and collective recognition to honor the sailors who have most distinguished themselves while representing the Yacht Club de Monaco throughout the year.

Winners are determined through a vote involving Yacht Club members, the general public, and the Sports Section.
Celebrating the Next Generation through the YCM Youth Awards
Throughout the season, Club members submit the results of the regattas they compete in while representing the Yacht Club de Monaco.
Based on the results submitted throughout the season, a committee selects the owners/skippers who have most distinguished themselves while representing the Yacht Club de Monaco.
The nominees are ranked through a weighted vote: 50% Club members, 25% general public, and 25% Sports Section.
Awarded annually since 2005, the YCM Sailor of the Year title recognizes the sailors who have most distinguished themselves while representing the Yacht Club de Monaco. Year after year, this prestigious award has honored some of the biggest names in international sailing, celebrating the excellence and commitment of those who proudly fly the Club’s colors on the world’s leading racing circuits.
The YCM Awards-Trophée UBS is an annual ceremony organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco. It honours sporting and nautical achievements and deserving Club members, thereby reaffirming the values of yachting excellence, innovation and sustainability.
The main UBS Award is for owner-members of the Yacht Club de Monaco who have achieved outstanding results during the season. There is also a youth sailing category to recognise and reward talented youngsters in Monaco.
The ceremony takes place at the Yacht Club de Monaco every year in December and is attended by the Club President, HSH Prince Albert II.
The selection criteria for the main award are as follows:
– To be an Active or Associate member
– To have achieved at least three significant results during the year
– To have participated in regattas on board, ideally as the helmsman
– To be registered under the YCM flag
– To display the MON number on the sail
– Participation in regattas organised by the Club is also an asset for selection.
For the winners it represents prestigious recognition by their Club. For the Yacht Club de Monaco it’s about showcasing members’ achievements, enhancing its image as a centre of excellence for international yachting and promoting its collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach. The YCM Awards-Trophée UBS is a way to highlight both the members’ results and the Club’s strategic ambition.
