Everything about the event

It is a winter regatta circuit organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco since 2013. Dedicated mainly to the J/70 class, it offers crews competitive winter training on one of the most consistent stretches of water in the Mediterranean. This event has become a benchmark for preparing major one-design races, notably the Primo Cup – UBS Trophy, which forms the series’ final act.

Races take place in Monaco between November and March, over three days of competition per act, in the Monaco bay — a body of water known for its winter stability, ideal for crews looking to fine-tune their technical preparation.

The series brings together an international fleet mixing professional and Corinthian crews. The J/70 Monaco Class Association, with 17 boats, is one of the largest J/70 hubs in the Mediterranean basin. Every winter this dynamic draws teams seeking a high level of competition and consistent conditions essential for progress at the top level.

The event lets teams:

  • maintain competitive training through the winter,
  • fine-tune settings and maneuvers,
  • test equipment in real conditions,
  • prepare for the Mediterranean one-design season,
  • arrive at the Primo Cup – UBS Trophy in the best possible shape.

The competition is open to all crews with a J/70 compliant with class rules and a valid license. Registration is done act by act, letting teams adapt their winter training schedule.

Spectators can follow the races from:

  • the new breakwater (digue),
  • the marina quays,
  • several elevated vantage points offering a clear view over the bay.

The Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series offer:

  • rapid progress thanks to the fleet’s level,
  • regular competition in the heart of winter,
  • an ideal setting for fine-tuning,
  • feedback directly usable for the season’s major events.

The Primo Cup – UBS Trophy, held in early March, is the last act of the circuit. For many crews, taking part in the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series is the most direct and effective preparation for this flagship regatta of the Mediterranean calendar.
